During our lifetime, we may
move many times. Sometimes we move because we have a better job
in a different city or country or it could be because we need
more space than we currently have. Other changes in our lives
may necessitate a move such as getting married. In some
instances, the neighborhood we live in is in decline and we do
not feel safe. Whatever the reason, moving is not easy for an
individual or a family. It takes time and planning to get all
of our household items and personal belongings packed. And we
get to the new place, we have to unpack and make the new place
homey.
Moving is stressful. Organization is the key to
making a move successful.
Long distance moves are hard for families. When
you are used to having family nearby for support and you move
to another city, phone bills increase and you have more
problems adjusting to your new surroundings. It will take a
while to adjust but as you meet new people, you will find it
easier living in your new place.
No matter how far you move, whether it is a
couple of streets away or hundreds of miles, you need to plan
for and organize your move. You will need to purchase and
collect packing supplies. You will need to make a to-do list so
that you can stay organized. If you work and you are moving,
there will be more pressure. Your to-do lists will be a
lifesaver.
You should try to create your to-do list six to
eight weeks in advance of your move. You should start thinking
about what needs to be moved and what you can get rid of. Don't
forget your home office. That will take coordination as
well.
Preparing in advance will give you enough time
to get your most fragile items packed properly and time to get
your place cleaned.
Moving is traumatic. Make it easier on you by
planning and organizing your move.
